Astronomical events have played a very important role in the events of nature with which man first came into contact or as their motivating elements. The positions of planets, satellites, constellations, nebulae and various events of the universe have always been the center of his curiosity. Since ancient times, Indians in particular have done very commendable work in this direction and even in the Rigveda there are indications of time calculation etc. Later it was termed as astrology. Surprisingly, even today the two most important fields in which India is leading the world, such as computer siren and space science etc., both are to a large extent the developed forms of this time calculation and astronomical science.
